As we are now well into our 3rd year of operation, and following on from the formation of the SCCAC (Society of Cannabis Clinicians Australian Chapter), we are delighted to now be launching an organisation for nurses and nurse practitioners.
AMCA was established in mid-2020, during the covid pandemic when the community, and especially medical staff, had more on their mind than medicinal cannabis. However, we have remained focused and are pleased to share with you our 5 top priorities:
1. Provide the Federal and State governments with solutions, not problems
. Change the driving laws that unfairly hinder patients on legally prescribed medicinal cannabis
. Improve patient (including Veterans) access and affordability
. Reduce stigma and advocate for the Australian medicinal cannabis industry
. Drive education, awareness and advocacy in this field
AMCA represents the broad medicinal cannabis sector and I am delighted to see that our membership, which now numbers well over 400 individuals, continues to represent the full breadth of this field - from patients, their carers and health care practitioners to the industry and its associated specialists. We shall continue to host Interest Groups and convene Working Groups to address key issues.
To celebrate the launch of ACNA, we are delighted to offer you complimentary membership of ACNA when you join AMCA. We hope this will encourage even more nurses and nurse practitioners to join both organisations, and to be part of continuing to change the landscape of this sector for the benefit of all.
